Mantras, affirmations and feel good formulas

You have heard them:

Om mani padme hum
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Namaste

These mantras, affirmations, and feel good formulas (the above are a few examples) are the seeds of change that can move our consciousness from negative states into more positive, nourishing realities. They act as entry points to different potentials and purposes, in which our sense of self is intact, and our minds and hearts are true, peaceful companions.

The formulas themselves are powerful, but when we add to them our own intention and presence, we imbue them with vitality and accessibility. It is we who breathe life and meaning into these sonic word equations.  Our consciousness is the key to opening these vaults of energetic wisdom through sound. Vibrate with these harmonics, and you will feel yourself engaging with life through the language of gods.

OM

Now, come closer still – to your name. Your name that you have spoken on so many days of your life. The particular sound, shape, and resonance of your name uttered by your vocal cords carries messages and clues of you. How do you feel about your name? Is it imbued with love, light, and intelligence? Can you speak it with an open heart and a relaxed adrenals?

Try this:

Say your name a dozen times, and listen for any pangs of judgement or constriction when you speak it. With each repetition, hear yourself release a bit more of the negative energy you may be holding around your name. Once your name rolls off your tongue with ease, begin to fill it with the qualities you want to communicate to the world, and how you want your world to connect with you. Focus on the way you want to be perceived. Feel the essence of each quality in your whole being, and then imagine your name filling up with those vibrations.

Your name is holy, sacred, and part of the vast sound tapestry of life. Speak it with love, light, and reverence.

Hello silence

I can feel you between my words and thoughts, in those breaths between feelings and expression. I can especially feel your presence when I let out a sigh. I see your signature everywhere – even in embraces and laughter. And when I breathe with you in mind, I feel like I am coming home.

And I want to thank you for being my ever-true friend.

Yours in love,

Navjit

In today’s world of unceasing communication – with smartphones, online chats & advertisements pummeling us at every turn – it’s crucial to give our minds some time away from the relentless noise that surrounds us. Today, let us celebrate silence by sitting together in silent meditation.

Take a couple of deep breaths into your body and close your eyes. Feel each breath start to ease the grip of any tension or tightness within you, and allow your senses to open. Breathe in and out. Softly, quietly, listen for the silence between the sounds, as those moments of pause enter into your consciousness like a welcome guest. Feel the presence of inner silence and sit in meditation with this friend for as long as you would like.

When your meeting with silence is complete, take a few lovely, deep breaths and open your eyes.

Remember: silence is a part of our inner nature to be relished and enjoyed! Take time to explore this innate part of you, and discover all of the blessings it brings.

Let it go

Is letting go difficult or easy?

Something in between, you say?

Is it an intellectual exercise? Or a calling for a spiritual awakening?

It could be both – that all depends.

Are we holding on to a genetic imprinting of memories of famine, struggle and strife – times in our past (lives) when we were barely clinging to life?

Maybe.

Do we ultimately have a choice about what we hold onto?

Yes.

Then let’s let go of “stuff”. Let’s release the people, feelings, and situations we hold onto psychologically, emotionally, and physically that no longer support us. Why hold on to a memory of someone not loving you? Why clutch at that feeling of loneliness, or keep that suit you never wear?

What would it feel like to be able to just say “I let go,”… and walk away?

Ready to try this? Let’s do it together.

First, let’s get centered for letting go. Take a deep breath into your body and close your eyes. Take a few more breaths, allowing your body to adjust to this shift in pace. Breathe. Slow down.

Now, imagine a white light coming in from the universe through the top of your head and into your body. You may sense the white light, or feel it. Give yourself a few moments to connect to this light. Keep breathing and fill your whole body up with it. Once you feel full, imagine extending this white light out through your solar plexus like a searchlight, right back into the sky.

Fully practice this exercise of pulling in the white light from the universe, filling your body, and then extending the light back out into the universe. This exercise will energize the body and create a sense of expansion.

When you feel ready, take a another deep breath and think of something that you are holding onto that doesn’t nourish you. It could be a memory, a feeling, or a person. Once you have that in mind, take another deep breath into your body and simply say: “I let go.”.

As you say this, give your body/emotions/mind the sense of letting go. You lead them in this exercise. Study this feeling of release as you repeat “I let go.”. Breathe, take your time, and repeat the process.

As you let go, feel yourself moving closer to home, deep within yourself & past all those places that hold on. Feel yourself being pulled inward, toward a sense of radiant inner calm. When you connect to these energies, take a deep breath and sit in meditation.

Stay in this vibration for as long as you would like. When you are ready, take a few deep breaths into your body and open your eyes.

We can always connect to the light within ourselves – our deepest sense of freedom, illumination and the quietude – by simply choosing to let go.

Preparing the mind & body for sleep

What’s your bedtime routine? Do you floss? Do you shower or bathe? How do you relax before going to sleep?

We all have evening rituals that prepare our bodies for a night of slumber, but do you take the time to help your mind wind down before your head hits the pillow? Here are a few things you can do for your consciousness to bring on deep, delicious sleep every night.

1 Let go of all the conclusions you made about yourself during the day. For example – “I am exhausted”, “I can’t do this”, or “I don’t have enough money”. Release these potential sleep disrupters by  imagining a shower of white light pouring through you as you brush your teeth Visualize all your negative thoughts and conclusions dissolving in the light.

2 Let go of the daily emotional rollercoaster, all those feelings you’ve felt today – even the good ones. No baggage in bed, even if it’s the Louis Vuitton of feelings. Turn on the white light shower and allow it all to rinse away.

3 Your body may need some attention too. If you’ve forgotten to love it during the day, here’s your chance. Tell your body that you love it by taking deep breaths and gradually relaxing your muscles, nervous system and bones. Begin at the tips of your toes, and work your way up to the top of your head.

4 Smile at yourself and those that you live with before you go to bed, and make sure that smile emanates from every cell of your body. Take off the daytime armor and drop your defenses.

5 Gratitude releases stress, so take a moment to reflect on your day with a gracious heart. This simple technique is a great way to become aware of all the fantastic stuff in your life!

6 If you have a difficult time falling asleep – let go of “trying” to sleep. Instead, enjoy the time you have for yourself, and use it to meditate, to contemplate and to muse.

Try adding one (or all) of these steps to your nightly routine, and see if it doesn’t make a significant difference in your sleeping patterns & quality of rest.

Remember: cleaning your spirit & consciousness of any negative energies or thoughts before bed is just as important as flossing or washing behind your ears!

Forget the laundry – do some brain washing instead!

Here’s an easy-peasy exercise for us to do today. I am talking heady, brainy stuff – the kind of thing spy thrillers thrive on. Brainwashing!

Mind you, I’m not talking about mind control. I’m talking about washing out all the junk our brains fill up with: TV jingles, something somebody said, self criticism, environmental toxins, etc. Our brains can grow heavy, distracted, and tired under the weight of all this stuff.

So today, let’s change that and do a little brainwashing.

Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Breathe into your body and feel your breath reaching into your lungs, filling your blood with rich oxygen. Take a few more breaths.

Now bring your awareness into your brain, and see how it feels today. Does it feel relaxed or wiry? Can you sense the fluids and electrical pulses between your synapses? Take your time as you tune into your brain. Are there any areas that are not being used, or have been shut down? Make a mental note of these places so that you can examine the functions that area performs in the colorful diagram below.

Allow yourself time to become acquainted with your brain and the activities going on in your cranium. Take another deep breath and begin to imagine a waterfall of light pouring in from the universe into your head.  Imagine this light clearing away any residues or toxins that may be stored in there. Feel the light moving around the curves of your grey matter, thoroughly washing out all your synapses and cerebral fluids.

Continue washing your brain until you feel a sense of clarity and freshness.  Be patient and gentle with yourself if you cannot sense or feel a shift immediately. Being able to direct your consciousness inward is like learning a new language – while it can be challenging or feel awkward at first, press on. Over time, you will become very fluent.

Now take a moment and visualize your brain being filled with light and operating at light speeds effortlessly. Enjoy this experience for as long as you would like, and then when you are ready, open your eyes.

We can energize our brains and map new ways of being by using our minds in this way. Wishing you a lighter, brighter week!

Stand tall & stop your light from shrinking

As children, we found it easy to stand tall in our true selves, inhabiting our hearts, dreams and visions, and fully experiencing the multi-dimensional qualities of our being. Our inner  and outer worlds were filled with wonder and awe as we flew in our dreams and played with imaginary friends. We stretched out in our imagination and pulsed with genius, rippling with sparkle and light.Yet somehow over time, we forget that multi-dimensional standing and beingness, and we feel our light shrinking. And, if we look closely, we can spot physical symptoms of this shrinkage; contracted posture, anxious habits, the twinkle slowly leaving our eyes.Fortunately, it’s possible to reverse that process! For today, let’s take a moment to stand tall in our lives and expand into the multi-dimensional being within ourselves. Let’s re-ignite the spark in our eyes!

Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Take a few moments to allow your awareness to adjust to your inner being. Now, take another deep breath and scan your body to see if you are contracting or squeezing anywhere. You may notice tension or stress, tightness or heaviness.

Allow yourself to become aware of these contractions. Breathe deeply into each place that reveals itself as uncomfortable or out of balance, until you feel the tension begin to unwind.

Once your whole body feels open and relaxed, take another deep breath and ask your body what color it wants to be expansive, open and free. You may see or feel the color. Take the first vibrant, beautiful color that you perceive and imagine drawing it into your body, filling yourself up. Keep doing this until your whole being feels full.

Now, take another deep breath and begin to radiate this color out into your electro-magnetic field (your aura). Let this color ripple out of you and into your aura, washing away any of your thoughts, other people’s projections, or roles that are vibrating around you. Wash all that static out until you begin to feel light, both vibrationally and energetically. Attune your consciousness to this vibration, and sit in this pulse until you would like to open your eyes.

We have more than one way to stand tall in our lives. Let us stretch our imagination, our hearts and our visions to encompass so much more of us than we thought possible!
